About State Government Jobs in Kerala

You must’ve heard about it in the news already. On October 1, 2020, the Government of Kerala led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced a plan to create atleast 50,000 new govt job vacancies in Kerala within 100 days— this figure roughly translates to an average of 500 job vacancies in Kerala Government on a daily basis until January 8, 2021.

In his announcement, he said that although the advertised number is 50,000 govt jobs in Kerala 2020-21, the actual intention is to create more, approximately 95,000 Kerala Government jobs 2020-21 in 100 days.

That’s not all, most of the govt job vacancies in Kerala will be created in 3 major sectors: government (18,600), industry (23,100) and cooperation (17,500). What’s more, an additional 15,441 job vacancies in Kerala Government is being planned for Kudumbashree — the poverty eradication mission spearheaded by the State Government of Kerala.

This “plan” to create government jobs in Kerala will include self-employment, the regularisation of existing employees, and direct recruitment (temporary, permanent and contract government jobs). This is definitely good news for candidates looking for employment opportunities in ‘God’s Own Country’.

Not only is the government setting-up livelihood for thousands and their dependants, but also creating self-employment opportunities, providing training, disbursing interest and subsidy to investors, and encouraging local bodies to generate non-agriculture jobs.

About Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC)

Following the same announcement, it was ascertained that a majority of government jobs in Kerala will recruit candidates directly for two state departments — education and health. KPSC is solely responsible for appointing genuine, qualified and interested candidates to Kerala State Government jobs.

As a result, the Chief Minister, in his announcement, talked about how strict instructions had been relayed to department heads regarding the reporting of existing job vacancies in Kerala Government to the Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) on an urgent basis.

If you didn’t know, the KPSC on average sends advice memo to around 2,000-2,500 Kerala Government job aspirants on a monthly basis. This certainly reinforces the government’s plan to appoint close to 5,000 candidates in the next 100 days. As for the creation of jobs in the agro-industry, the most number of jobs (348) will be created in KERFED. And speaking of direct jobs in the government sector, 42 PSUs will account for 3,997 of the jobs.

We’re sure that you’re familiar with SSC and UPSC. These are the two commissions set up by the Central Government of India to find, select, and appoint candidates to job roles all across the country, including Kerala. Like these commissions, the Government of Kerala has its own state-level commission called the Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) which conducts recruitment for any Kerala Govt vacancy 2020-21.

Their official KPSC portal ( lists all the current and upcoming govt jobs in Kerala. As a Kerala Government job aspirant, it is your duty to ensure that information related to any Kerala Govt job vacancy is reliable. And that is why you should only refer to Aasaanjobs and the official KPSC portal for not just the current news on any Kerala Govt job vacancy 2020-21, but also to steer clear of touts and scammers.

Now, let’s learn a little more about how the Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) conducts recruitment for any Kerala Govt vacancy 2020-21. They go about recruiting candidates through promotions/transfers and by directly selecting worthy individuals from the job seekers’ community.

In the case of the latter ie., direct selection, candidates have to appear for a state-level written examination conducted by the KPSC. The examination can either be computer or paper-based. Upon appearing for the examination, candidates must clear the minimum cutoff to get selected for Sarkari Naukri Kerala 2020-21, or to proceed to other stages of the selection process. The final selection or progression will be provided via a KPSC notification 2020 -21.

Do keep in mind that the latter stages of the selection process might just include a single or multiple rounds of interview, or a mains examination — with interviews — or other forms of assessment such as a physical fitness test or a medical evaluation.

Now, the other way KPSC finds candidates for govt jobs in Kerala 2020-21 is via promotions or transfers. In other words, existing employees are promoted to fill vacant posts. In fact, every department in the state government has a promotion committee. And their job is to recommend civil servants for promotions under the chairmanship of the commission.

Yes, non-residents can apply as long as the recruitment board allows it. If the number of openings/vacancies has an allotment for non-locals (non-residents) then you can definitely apply.

7) Where do I get my KPSC Admit Card 2020-21?

Your Kerala PSC admit card is the most important document that validates your candidacy. Without it, you cannot appear for selection. KPSC typically releases admit cards atleast 7-10 days before the examination or interviews.

Candidates who have received the admit card by post should print a coloured copy just in case it gets misplaced. However, nowadays, admit cards are usually sent to the candidates via mail in which case (the digital copy) should be backed up, downloaded, and printed.

In the case of KPSC, you will most probably have to download the admit card by visiting the official KPSC portal, searching and clicking on the relevant notification. This might be a little problematic.

The easier way would be clicking on the relevant Admit Card Download link under “Important Links” section on Aasaanjobs. It will take you directly to the page where you can download the admit card.
